Second phase of Fred.Olsen headquarters complete

Following completion of the new headquarters building adjacent to Fred. Olsen’s existing offices in Whitehouse Road, Ipswich last summer, developers Artisan (UK) Developments have now completed phase 2 of the project.

The second phase of the development involved complete internal refurbishment of the existing office building to bring it up to the same standard as the new building and marks the successful completion of the overall project.

Now combined into a single HQ, the finished building comprises 38,860sq ft of high quality office accommodation over three floors able to accommodate 400 staff, plus a basement car park and further extensive parking externally.

Despite the challenges of the last year and, in particular, the effect of the pandemic on the travel industry, the project represents a significant investment by Fred. Olsen in the future of its cruise and travel business and the company’s continuing commitment to Ipswich and the local area. The completion of the project will allow Fred. Olsen to rationalise their various offices in Ipswich into a single location.

The company are confident that the eventual easing of travel restrictions will bring with it a renewed enthusiasm for cruise holidays especially on board the recently acquired Bolette and Borealis. Their new headquarters equips them with the resources they need to respond to the predicted growth in guest numbers.

Artisan’s managing director, Michael Eyres commented: “Clearly the lockdown restrictions of the past twelve months have presented us with some unique challenges in terms of working safely while continuing to progress the project, but I am pleased we have been able to complete the development that began in May 2019 ahead of programme and I am delighted that Artisan were able to partner with Fred. Olsen to realise the development’s potential.”

Belinda Mindell, Chief Financial Officer for the Fred. Olsen companies, said: “The completion of our new headquarters in Ipswich is a big milestone for the Suffolk-based Fred. Olsen companies. When we return to office working, we will do so with our teams together under one roof, in a brilliant new space for us all. All of us at Fred. Olsen would like to extend our thanks to Artisan for their professionalism and commitment to the completion of this project in these unprecedented times.”
